This characteristic makes Korea more strongly characterized as a homogeneous nation. Most people can relate to the characteristics of each season.

Because of these distinct seasons, the fashion industry in Korea is at its peak.

 

From fresh spring fashion to light summer attire as temperatures rise, romantic autumn fashion with leaves turning red and gold everywhere, to winter fashion with warm insulation to fend off the cold!

 한국은 크기가 매우 작은 나라임에도, 봄, 여름, 가을, 겨울의 사계절이 뚜렷한 곳입니다. 이 작은 한반도 국가에 사계절이 있다는 것은 매우 엄청난 축복이 아닐 수없습니다. 

 

 사계절이 분명하다는 것은 그 국가의 산업 전반이 다양해질 수 있는 잠재력이 높다는 말과 같습니다. 

 

 음식을 예로 들자면, 계절마다 맛있는 식재료가 있을 것이고, 사람들은 제철 음식이라는 특별한 맛을 경험할 수 있습니다. 식재료의 다양성으로 인하여 조화로운 요리의 개발이 자연스럽게 이루어집니다.

 

 그도 그럴 것이 한국을 대표하는 음식은 매우 많습니다. 한반도 지역은 산과 들이 많기 때문에, 몸에 좋은 나물들이 자라기에 매우 좋은 환경을 갖추었습니다. 

 

 한국의 면적이 넓지 않기에 이 사계절은 전국 지역에 모두 똑같이 일어납니다. 겨울이 되면 모든 지역에 눈이 내릴 수 있는 환경을 가지게 됩니다. 면적이 넓은 국가였다면, 겨울이라도 눈을 볼 수 없는 곳도 많을 것입니다.

 

이런 점에서 한국은 단일민족 국가의 성격이 더 짙어지는 경향이 있습니다. 모든 계절에 대부분의 사람들이 계절의 특성에 대하여 공감을 할 수 있는 것입니다.

 

이 뚜렷한 사계절로 인하여, 의류 산업은 그야말로 최고의 정점을 이룰 것입니다.

 

 산뜻한 봄의 패션과 점점 기온이 올라가는 여름의 가벼운 패션, 여기저기 산과 들의 나뭇잎이 붉은색과 황금색으로 물들어가는 낭만의 가을 패션, 추위를 막기 위한 따뜻한 보온 특성을 지닌 겨울 패션!

 

각 계절의 특성에 따른 한국인의 의류 산업은 굉장히 다양하고 풍성합니다. 현재의 한국 사람들의 패션에 대한 관심은 이 사계절로 봤을 때 당연하다고 할 수 있습니다.

 

 와, 네가 입은 원피스는 무더운 여름에 딱 어울리는 디자인이다. 너무 예뻐!

 

이런 식으로 서로의 코디네이션을 칭찬하기도 합니다.  

 

이런 점은 현재 K-POP을 통해 알려진 ‘한국인은 옷을 잘 입는다.’라는 말과, 사계절로 인한 패션 산업의 발전은 어느 정도 개연성이 있어 보입니다.   

 

 하지만, 현재 한국의 사계절은 예전과는 다르게 여름과 겨울이 매우 극과 극으로 치닫고 있습니다. 바로 온난화의 영향 때문인데요, 여름은 체감상 동남아 국가보다도 더 덥게 느껴지는 고온다습한 기온이 나타납니다. 

 

 반대로 겨울은 시베리아의 추위보다도 더 매서운 강추위가 찾아옵니다. 얼마나 추운지 한국인 만의 특별한 겨울 의상이 있습니다. 대표적인 겨울옷으로 ‘롱패딩’이라는 옷이 있습니다. 

 

 마치 이불을 돌돌 말아서 몸에 걸친 듯한 생김새의 겨울 패딩 잠바인데요, (애벌레 같아 보이기도 함.) 기온이 영하로 떨어지는 매우 추운 날씨이기 때문에 패션 디자인보다는 실용성에 맞춘 옷입니다.

 

 한국은 사실 예전에는 매우 살기 좋은 사계절의 기후를 가지고 있었는데요, 지금처럼 여름과 겨울의 기온차가 심하지 않았었습니다. 그런데, 지구 온난화로 인하여 여름과 겨울은 상당한 기온의 간극이 생겼습니다.   

 

 이런 극단적인 기후 변화는 한국의 방위산업에도 큰 영향력을 끼치고 있습니다.

 

 남과 북으로 휴전 중인 대한민국의 군사력은 생각보다 최첨단 기술로 막강한 편입니다. 무기 또한 인정을 받고 있어, 무더운 중동 국가의 사막에서 사용할 탱크나 전차를 수출하기도 합니다.

 

 중동 지역의 한 국가에서 한국의 우수한 전차를 수입하기 위해 다음과 같은 말을 했었습니다.

 

한국의 내수용 전차가 매우 우수한 성적을 받았다. 그런데 우리 중동 지역은 매우 뜨겁고 더운 국가이다. 한국의 내수용 전차가 이 더위를 견딜 수 있겠어? 내수용이 아닌, 우리 중동 지역의 기온에 맞는 수출용으로 따로 제작해 줄 수 있겠어?

 

 하지만, 정작 한국의 내수용으로 사용된 전차를 중동 지역에서 테스트해보니 아무 문제 없이 매우 뛰어난 성능을 발휘한 것입니다. 한국의 전차는 고온의 날씨에도 아랑곳하지 않고, 우수한 기량을 뽐낸 것입니다.

 

 이런 일화 만큼 한국의 여름은 매우 덥습니다. 반대로 유럽의 매우 추운 한 국가에서도 한국의 내수용 군사 무기를 수입한 사례가 많습니다.

 

 그때도 중동 국가처럼 추운 지역에서의 전차 성능에 대한 의문을 품었습니다. 하지만, 겨울 역시 한국은 다른 추운 국가와 마찬가지로 엄청 기온이 떨어지는 추운 계절을 가지고 있습니다. 

 

 오히려 겨울 계절만 있는 국가보다도 한국의 겨울이 더 추울지도 모릅니다. 한국의 내수용 군사 장비가 별도의 튜닝 없이 그대로 추운 국가로 수출되어, 뛰어난 활약으로 높은 만족도를 주고 있습니다.  

 

 이처럼 극명한 사계절을 가진 한국은 무한한 잠재력을 가진 국가이고, 5천만 명도 안 되는 인구를 가진 한국인들은 그 점을 잘 살려 눈부신 성장을 멈추지 않고 있습니다.

 

 한국의 막강한 문화의 힘 역시도, 그 밑바탕엔 아름다운 사계절의 환경적인 요인이 있는 건 아닐까 생각이 들기도 합니다.
